Celebrating Cultures

We have been celebrating the different cultures that we have in our classroom. We began our unit by looking at what makes New Zealand special. We sorted pictures of things that make our country special. We made some Kiwi, coloured in the New Zealand flag and labelled a map. We then drew pictures of ourselves and looked at the different countries in the world that we are from. We learnt about Japan and The Cook Islands and made Japanese fans and flower leis. We compared the two countries and discussed the similarities and differences. On Friday we had a shared lunch. We brought in a plate of food from our culture to share with others.
