Gumboots and Umbrellas Day
On Friday these children braved the weather and walked to school on the Gumboots and Umbrellas Day.
We found some facts about gumboots in a School Journal.
Gumboots can be made out of plastic. In England gumboots are called Wellies. In New Zealand gumboots can jump in puddles. There is a gumboot festival in Taihape and they have a competition to see who can throw the gumboot furthest.

Gumboots were first made in New Zealand in 1943.. They can be made of rubber or plastic. The Duke of Wellington wanted to have some smooth, black, long boots.
